Unacceptable & Conditionally Acceptable Materials
The information below is intended to outline materials that are not accepted at our facilities and materials that may be accepted if certain conditions are met.Common sense and good judgement are the best methods to use when determining which materials can be managed in a safe and responsible manner that minimizes risk and potential liabilities for all parties. Special situations or requests for deviations are to be discussed and cleared with management. Our facility managers are available to answer questions or to discuss any concerns you may have.

Barrels, Drums, and Other Containers | Empty, open to allow inspection, bearing no hazard or warning labels or placards that are not covered with a “Certified Clean” or equivalent decal, and containing no non-metal residual materials or fluids. | Compressed/Liquified Gas Cylinders and Vessels (oxygen, propane, acetylene argon, refrigerants, fire extinguishers, ect). | Segregated, valves removed, depressurized, and rendered unusable. |
Gauges and Measuring Devices | Verified free of radioactive sources. | Paint Cans | Empty, open, and dry. |
Hydraulic Equipment, Pre-1980 or indeterminable | Documentation supporting that oil does not contain greater than 50 ppm PCBs and equipment has been drained of any free flowing oil (or equipment was decontaminated in accordance with federal TSCA regulations). | Lighting Fixtures, Outdoor and Industrial/Commercial (sodium/mercury vapor, metal halide, fluorescent, and neon). | Free of capacitors or ballasts with PCB concentrations greater than 50 ppm and free of bulbs. |
Shells/Munitions | Must be spent. | Tanks Above ground and Underground Storage | A minimum of a 3-foot square hole must be cut at each end and they must be thoroughly cleaned of liquids and gases. (odor free) |
